The multi-story houses with their pastel-colored facades are packed tightly together along the waterfront promenade. White yachts rock on the water next to blue, yellow and green fishing boats. The mountains rise steeply behind the front of the houses, and in an exposed position high above the scene, Doria Castle is enthroned on a rocky plateau.
